    POOL AND GARDEN

The uniqueness of the 5-star Le Prieuré-Baumanière hotel is that it is located in an old Prieuré from the 14th century with its magnificent lush garden… and this close to the Palais des Papes in Avignon.

The century-old wisteria arbor and the bucolic garden are another charming asset of the 5-star hotel Le Prieuré-Baumanière. It’s delightful to wander here… Settle under the plane trees and dive into a book or enjoy a good meal in the shade of the bignonia can only leave a memory of pure delicacy. Massifs of ancient roses, vegetable garden, Mediterranean plants, centuries-old plane trees or linden… For garden lovers, the numerous species present create as many paintings whose beauty varies with the daylight; bright with the morning dew, the vegetation provides a green haven for lazy afternoons around the pool. At sunset, the warm light reflects off the golden stones and offers once again an enchanting painting. In the evening, the restaurant tables set under the wisteria are so many settings for a romantic dinner, the place then takes on airs of Tuscany… Close to the garden paths, the pool of the 5-star hotel Le Prieuré-Baumanière offers you a moment of relaxation and tranquility. At lunchtime in summer, a snack can be served at the poolside. A haven of coolness after a stroll in the City of Popes, in Avignon, in the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, or in the cobbled streets of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon.

    HISTORY

Before becoming a sought-after hotel address, Le Prieuré was a palace, then known as a “livrée”, built in 1332. Shortly before his death, Cardinal Arnaud de Via, its owner and nephew of Pope John XXII, donated it to Canons to establish a priory. It later became a boarding house for artist painters and was then transformed into a tourism.
